3 MOST EXCITING ACTIVITIES DURING THE FOUNDATION PROGRAMME

Foundation program has been in progress since 4th of July and till now we have participated in many activities. Learning through activities, whether it’s ECA (Extra Curricular Activities) or CCA (Co-Curricular Activities), Workshops (time management and leadership skills), series (Success Mantra, Management in Practice, Learning through Movies and so on).

Though all these activities formed the core of the foundation cum orientation program which is still in progress the three activities which specifically caught my excitement and enthusiasm are THE HANDSHAKES AND SOUND ACTIVITY, THE CASE STUDY ON THE PRIORITISATION (items to be taken to the deserted island) and the most important and fascinating INDUSTRIAL VISIT.

Talking firstly about the Handshake activity, it was conducted on the first day of the orientation so as to make students interact with each other and develop a sense of camaraderie. The aim of the task was to focus on Synchronization, Coordination, Team Work, Memory Power, Building Relationships, Focus, Sound Recognition, Value of Practice and developing the potential of leading and balancing the whole team as a bunch of people directed towards the same and specific goal. Conducting this activity on the very first day made students feel comfortable regarding the upcoming new college life, somewhat reduced the nervousness and loaded them with bunch of memories and laughter.

The next in series comes the Case Study which was conducted as a part of CCA. Learning through cases was, is and will always be the core and fundamental principle of the PGDM programme. The case study was concerned about the items to be taken to a deserted island when you are already stuck in a ship which is sinking slowly. The theme of the case study was the Prioritization, Sequentialization, Understanding the Story, Empathy Development, Putting yourself in the shoes of others and Developing the importance of having a Vision. The case was to be solved in groups which again focus on Esprit De Corps. Communication and Conceptual skills were the most prominent prerequisite for solving and presenting the case. List of 15 items were to be ranked which presented us with various point of views of approaching the same problem and developing the sense of mutuality and tolerance.

The third and most exciting one was the Industrial Visit to Brindavan Bottlers Pvt. Ltd., Safedabad. Company was established on 28 Nov, 1987. The industry manufactures the soft drink for the Coca Cola brand. For most of the students including me it was first experience to see the actual and realistic process of what we had read in managerial and industrial books till now. Observing the actual Production Process, Quality Standards, Safety Measures, Assembly Line, Conveyor Belt, Storage Tanks (for Carbonation, Filtration, Softening), Packaging and Labelling, Water process and its Recycling (Effluent Treatment Plan), Concentrate Making, Cleaning of used Bottles provided the basic insights of how things actually work in practice. Observing things in real life always provide different and multiple views over practicality of things.

All the aforementioned three activities in combination with many more, served as the bedrock of the upcoming structured course. In nutshell, foundation is going on very smoothly with varied focus on learning though activity. MANY MORE TO COME AS WELL!!

THANK YOU.
